Hello Beautiful Bellydancers!
I am hosting Vagabond Bellydance community haflas begining April 15th at Avant Garden and would love for you to dance! You may dance solo or with your troupe, whichever you prefer. Also, if you have students who would like to perform that night, please let me know. I want to help foster a caring, safe place for all level dancers to perform, which is why I chose Avant Garden.
Vagabond Bellydance will also feature dancers from around the state in 2008, including Obsidia of L'imprevu (May), Visions In Dance (July), BellaNatana (TBD), and Michelle Manx (TBD). This is ALWAYS an open call!
THE APRIL SHOW IS FULL! There are only six spots left for the May 20th show, so sign up soon!
Live Musicians (drummers, oud, violin, cello,etc...) are also welcome to perform, with or without dancers. Perhaps a drum jam will ensue after the show?

4th Tuesday: Nah'na
All of the shows are wonderful, and all of the dancers are beautiful, talented women! Be sure to check out bellydance at Avant Garden every Tuesday night! -

Hmmnn, I think I will talk to Marianna and see about me taking the 5th Tuesday, it almost little enough commitment to make it fun. -

I wish I was there to witness it! Next month though, next month...
i'm so proud of my Nari girl for making this happen-a hafla that anyone and everyone can perform in-no matter what level you're at in your dance....you can try out the "stage life".....
Side story: The troupe that Nari and I ended up in when we first started dancing had us performing after only about 6 weeks of classes and we were just terrified!
Thank goodness we had a welcoming, warm hafla enviroment to "pop our performance cherry" at....I doubt we'd have stuck around for long otherwise...lol
And look at us now...Good things always circle back!

That's why I love haflas- they are for everyone. The hafla environment is so supportive and nurturing and it helps our community prosper. It's also great to perform as much as you can; it only makes you a better dancer.
Come on out tonight and join us in celebrating our awesome community and the beauty of bellydance! See you there!

I do have some Louisiana connections though Chris, so blood relation isn't out of the question.....

Wed, April 16, 2008 - 5:13 AMThanks so much to everyone who performed last night! It was so wonderful to see some dancers pushing their boundaries, some performing the more classical bellydance pieces so beautifully, and all having a fantastic time.
I hope, Ayana, that we made your birthday a great time! Your solo ROCKED!
And thanks so much to everyone who came out to support local bellydance last night. We will be starting all future shows at 8:30, as that seems to be the time most people can get to the venue. I want to make sure the audience gets to see all the dancers perform and that the dancers have the joy of dancing to a full house!
Our next show is May 20th at Avant Garden. Again, the show starts at 8:30 this time.
Our guests will include L'imprevu (Obsidia and I), the Urban Gypsy Student Dancers, Anaid (San Antonio) , and many many more!

Most people who don't have an 8+ meg camera don't realize just how much detail you can see in the uncompressed file...
